Remembering the Good Old Days: When Celebrities Went to Bali

Ah,… Bali.

Unless you were living under a rock, there is a good chance that you have at least heard about it from someone you know before you finally decided to come here and see what the fuss was all about for yourself.

We hope we did not disappoint you. Yes, admittedly, this beautiful little island might not be the place you read about and see photos of in those coffee table books your parents had when you were little, but still, there are so many ways to enjoy the island if you just know where to go and who to talk to.

One of the perks of living in the era of internet is, of course, we have the world under our thumbs. The answers to any questions you ever have is now accessible by means of typing, mixed with the skill of finding out the right keywords.

If, by any odd chance, you do not know anyone who have been to Bali, your parents did not have architecture books sitting on their coffee tables when you were 9, and so on, then you can now do the next best thing: browse the internet. Neat, huh?

If you need visual input on what to see, where to go, and what to do in Bali, you better head to ‘gram. That beautiful little platform will display tons and tons of amazing pictures taken by people who visited Bali, no big deal.

However, don’t waste your time on regular people; just go straight to those shiny Hollywood people’s accounts and see what their trip looked like back then, when what’s normal was just…. normal.

The Kardashians vacation in Bali
  1. The Kardashians

The reality show stars clan had a family vacation to Bali with Kim, Khloe, Kourtney, and their kids all went down the jungles for some quality time together. They even included Kanye and Kourtney’s ex, Scott, on their trip. This was also Koko’s first trip across the world with her daughter True.

  1. Chris Hemsworth

The hunky actor arrived in Bali over @ summer to promote his movie Men In Black: International. While doing some press in paradise, he showed off his Bahasa Indonesia speaking skills, which, admittedly, pretty good. Yes, this guy is everything: a devoted family man, yummy to look at, and talented and intelligent.

  1. The Legends

Singer John Legend and his model wife Chrissy Teigen took their two tiny tots to experience all that Bali had to offer. Geez, most of us remember our childhood family vacations as a week where dad and mom loaded up the station wagon with snacks and clothes and headed out to the lake for a few days. These Legend kids sure are lucky.

  1. The Beckhams

The Beckhams managed to squeeze in a whole lot of family trips in 2018, and one of their three significant destinations was Bali. Victoria and David took their four children to the Nihi Sumba resort. Judging from their social media posts, the family sure packed a lot in including dining, surfing, and cooking classes.

  1. Lindsey Lohan

Lindsay Lohan’s world is always a little bit of a mess, and it is no wonder that she tries to escape to places like Bali to reset her mind, body, and soul. Lohan apparently spent some time in Bali in 2016 so that she could soak up the ample sun, the zen vibes, and get a little work done on her book.

  1. Tyra Banks

We bet Ms. Tyra got some great ideas for America’s Next Top Model when she spent time in the Indonesian hot spot a few years ago. Now that Tyra is a mommy, maybe she will bring her little one back here for some fun and bonding. She could ask John and Chrissy Legend for tips on doing Bali with babies.

  1. Tom Holland

Tom Holland is living out his wildest dreams these days. He gets to play Spiderman, and he gets to travel to places like Bali for movie promotional work. We think this young guy is probably feeling like the luckiest kid on earth these days. We know that is how we would feel if we were living his life.

Vanessa Hudgens learn to surf in Bali
  1. Vanessa Hudgens

Carefree Vanessa Hudgens made the best of her Balinese vacation a few years ago. She spent time learning how to master the surfboard and hung out with her close pal Ashley Greene. They showed the world that spending time in the sun with girlfriends is the absolute best way to use your precious downtime. Yes, girl power!

Working on this particular article invokes some bittersweet memories about how the island used to be. While the nature is having a rest from all the pollution, we can not ignore the fact that thousands of people are losing more and more money every day. The eerily empty Legian and Kuta is nothing close to what they were.

The empty sidewalks echoes with the steps of past party-goers walking to the clubs, the shops display nothing but fabrics on top of hand-made crafts and wooden artworks the island is widely known of. Oh well, at least we are still allowed to see pictures of world celebs visiting Bali in the past. See you when Corona leaves!
